Pregnancy Week 37:
Saturday,

I am getting cabin fever. So I went to the outdoor outlet mall. Since Dad
got us a gift certificate to Mikasa, I thought I would go down there and buy
some stuff left on our registry. I also thought walking around outside might
help jump start contractions. Of course it was 4 degrees and very cold, so
I could only stay out for about 30 minutes. Also went into the Gap Outlet
to find a winter hat for Derby, with no luck. No one makes winter hats for
newborns.
I have
been busy sewing some things for Derby and Harper, such as curtains and “flashing
out” dresses. But last week my sewing machine started acting up so I
had to take it to the “machine hospital”. So no sewing for awhile…..
So I am going to pass the time away by learning to knit….first project
a hat. We have a great knitting store up the street, called Strings, which
has amazing yarn and accessories. If Derby doesn’t come this week, I
will pick up the new hobby.
Health
update:
50%
thinning and 1 1/2 cm dilated. Baby weighs around 6 lbs. Baby positioned head
down. Mom and Dad are healthy. Mom is starting to feel like a house and is
getting ready for labor. Bags
are packed and all the "classes" are finished. It is a waiting game
from here on out.
Mom has been sleeping really well at night. I have been getting very extreme
cramping, which the doctors say is a good sign that my body is getting ready.
I have had only minor contractions here and there, but nothing consistent.
My belly measures 48 inches around. My feet and toes have been swelling up,
but Karl went to the store, got some foot lotion and has rubbed my feet every
night. I have gone into the hot tub a lot to help with some contraction relief
and back pain, but since the temperature drop, it has been too cold to get
outside, so I have been utilizing our garden bath tub. It is wonderful except
my belly is just too big, so it looks like a boulder coming out of the water.
I am afraid I am going to see a turtle come rest on me……
The baby is very active, moving all the time. Big motions, but they are all
directed towards the back, so it is looking like the baby is positioned great.

We got about 3 more inches last night and the temperature is around 8 degrees.
Both the cats are climbing the walls because they have been house bound for
the past 4 weeks. We cannot get away from the snow. Every time the snow seems
to melt a little, more comes.
Derby seems to be holding strong against all the labor triggers, such as Full
Moons, 4 snow storms and barometric pressure fluctuating. Karl seems to always
be shoveling.
Went to see the new James Bond movie, finally. This helped my cabin fever
for today, not to mention that this may very well be the last movie we see
for a few months. But the movie wasn't very good. I was very restless and
hot in the theatre.
